Summary

Order Actiniaria is made up of over 1000 species from approximately 46 families ranging in distribution from shallow water to deep abyssal locations, with some found within estuaries.  Size range is just as varied within the order, with some only centimeters in diameter, increasing to over a meter.

This specimen was unable to be identified to less than order, however it is known that it contains actonia and possibly a symbiotic relationship with photosynthetic algae.  It was found on a settlement plate from within Manly harbour, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and so could be considered a species that is part of a biofouling community.
